The Digital Shop® will revolutionize your shop and boost your ARO. But you don’t have to take it from us, see what shop owners have to say.
We used to use Bolt On here at Aram’s Auto Repair Center. Bolt On was very difficult to navigate from a service writers perspective. It has the ability to take control of Mitchell work orders back into the techs tablet. This created many, I mean MANY headaches for me. I would write this beautiful stories of what was removed and replaced to describe labor operations, only to save it and find out that a tech had taken control back to change something in his notes. Poof, everything I just typed would vanish, gone. The information was not easy to manipulate and clunky. I would ask for training and have to schedule a webinar that meet the time frame and subject they were training to. I run a business for Aram, I couldn’t just stop in the middle of a day to attend a webinar. The business would come to a grinding halt when I tried. We attended a showing of AutoVitals at the home office in Goleta, I only put hands on that software for maybe 2 hours tops and could already see the benefit of switching. I convinced Aram to switch during the car ride home and we have never looked back. I can change things in our inspections from the comfort of my own home too, I could not do that with Bolt On.

We went paperless with Bolt On. It was cool at first, mostly because we didn’t know any other DVI company. I honestly didn’t “do my homework” before I joined with Bolt On. The tablets are slow, the chat is close to inoperative and we had to switch between programs to do different tasks. It was a system designed to be easy. That’s it. In the world, there aren’t many things that are awesome and are easy to learn and operate. Our ARO went up a bit, and our customers were shocked, but our efficiency went down with Bolt On. I calculated that our techs were each spending an hour per week waiting on pictures to upload. Also, the fact that the tech can modify the tech notes that the customer sees was a problem. We even found that a tech can go into a closed RO an modify the tech notes without a password. The advisor cannot go into the RO while the tech is working on a car. Only one person can be in an RO at once with Bolt On. After Bolt On tech support trashed my host PC remotely and took 7 days to reply to my email, I knew it was time to move on. We were with them for one year.
We found AutoVitals at ATI SuperConference. We loved the program and the fact that AutoVitals didn’t only give us DVI, they offered a workflow management solution. We started with AutoVitals in April 2018. It changed everything for everyone. Their system was designed to improve efficiency for the tech AND the advisor. The app can upload pictures in the background. The TVP manages the shop workflow, instead of using the statuses in Mitchell (no fun). All of the communication is in one spot with AutoVitals. Many people can work on an RO at once. The advisor can be making an estimate while a tech is finishing tech notes. It’s just overall better. We spend most of our day in the AutoVitals systems. It’s a mindset shift. Think of Mitchell as a way to write RO’s, lookup parts, order parts & collect money. EVERYTHING else is in AutoVitals.
