Fred L. Dundee, IL	Prior to my last visit I had recommended SJM to everyone that would listen. Unfortunately this time I was extremely disappointed; it took nearly a month to have a rear only alignment done. After three weeks i called again to check on the status of the car, the first call was a week prior and they said they were waiting on shims. So week three I called and they said we have several issues keeping us from doing the rear alignment and the cost would be $700. I was sent an inspection report with 90% of the issues having nothing to do with an alignment. Examples of issues are caliper bolt not tight, emergency brake cable not secured, one of the four leaf spring bolts not tight. I work on my Corvette myself and one thing I can’t do is an alignment, so anything I can’t do I bring to SJM. After seeing the report I was so pissed that 3 weeks went by and now I a being told a couple loose bolts and a handful of issues that have nothing to do with an alignment are costing me 3 times the price of the original quote!!! After going in and asking to take the car back Steve told me he would call me with a more realistic price. I was charged $200 for a rear only alignment and $175 for a washer and tightening two bolts. I haven’t felt taken advantage by a mechanic in a long while but unfortunately I was at SJM this time. It’s sad because the quality of work is great but this is just unfair.
